003: My hope for humanity.

It's been a stressful day today. There was an incident very close to the deli. Two people, who I think were drug addicts, had gotten into an argument. They were yelling on the street, but that's nothing new. But one of them got into their car and they were still intoxicated. They crashed into another car, causing a huge pile up outside the deli, which injured twelve people and I think, killed the other, non-intoxicated driver.

I rushed out of the deli obviously, shutting it down and helped people into the deli and cleaned them up and helped them as much as I could before the ambulance arrived. Four cars had piled up and this one twelve-year old girl was trapped in her car and had serious damage done to her leg. I can still smell the blood and gore on my skin from when three strangers and I literally tore off the car door and smashed through the glass window to get her and her mother out.

But it's in times like this where you really see the kindness of strangers. There were a huge amount of people standing on the side, just taking pictures and gaping, but there were also people that went to help, like me, and that warms my heart and gives me hope for the future.

I don't know what happened to the strangers, but I can only hope that they will be recover fully. My first-aid kit is empty and my clothes are covered in blood, but I've never felt more satisfied with what I'm doing with my life. Even if my arms feel like I've been training non-stop for four days.
