002: Influx of Customers

Ahh, it is odd. I've been rather busy for the past few days, because there's been a huge increase in customers! I admit, it's quite a surprise, but I'm very glad. If I could just figure out why....

Oh, and in interesting news today, it seems that Fudoumine middle school tennis team are in the Kanto again, for the first time since our time. The whole team had a celebratory dinner at my place yesterday, seeing as they won Prefecturals. It was nice chatting with all of them and they all seemed interested in learning more about how to improve their tennis.

Akira, Shinji, if you're free sometime, maybe we could drop by during their practise and help them figure out what they need to improve? Seems that they only have a teacher patron and not an actual coach. They're better off than we were, but they'll need something if they're to get very far in Kanto.

I don't know how that school of yours managed to beat Hyoutei, but Nationals will be another story entirely. Shishido will not allow himself to be beaten by Fudomine again!

Actually, I was referring to the current season. Shishido is Hyoutei's coach, you know. Shishido is not nearly as arrogant as he was in Junior High.

Mind you that is saying that a volcano is not as hot as the sun, but still.

Ahh, is Shishido the Hyotei coach? I thought he was just a teacher there. Who knows what will happen at Nationals? I do confess that I will be supporting Fudoumine though, by virtue of school pride.

(ooc: Oh yes, that will be interesting. The Little Team That Could, could use some wrist weights most likely and perhaps an increase in practise equipment, like tennis balls and better nets.)

Mm, no, he's the coach. And that tiny girl you may see bossing all the teams around at the Tournaments is not An-chan from your memory, but his 4-year old daughter, Arashi-chan.

I am sure you will support Fudomine as best as you can. It will however not be enough as Hyoutei is clearly the superior school.

Well, the players are different this year. Hyotei may have been the superior school in our time not but this season is different and these players are different. And I believe that Fudoumine may just surprise you. The players are already excellent and this is without a secure play style for themselves. Once they truly discover their own style of tennis, they'll be quite amazing.

And Kenji, their captain, came to me this morning and said that he'd received a large anonymous donation of tennis equipment. He thought it was from me, but I don't have the money to do that. And Akira would have told me or the team about it. The Fudoumine team are clueless and it'll stay that way, but thank you on their behalf.

(ooc: Strikes deleted. Tachibana may secretly insult Atobe in his head, but he's not the sort to outrightly say it ^^; And yes, Fudoumine totally won the year after canon. I personally support the headcanon that An pretended to be a boy and joined their team XD)

Yes, tennis is still not Fudoumine Chuu's main priority, it seems. Their captain is good at playing, but his tennis coaching experience isn't very much. They got where they are now by sheer determination and watching videos of pros and copying them. They haven't had the chances to develop their own tennis yet, because they haven't had a proper coach.

We should organise a date to go and see them and help out. I would hate to see people with a passion, deteriorate,because they don't have the proper support.

Hm.... I'll speak to Kamio. I think we can arrange something to get these kids the help they need. I think Kamio would even be willing to help them out financially as well. Especially if it means helping them to win Nationals.

Yes, that sounds good.If Akira can do that, I think all involved would be very grateful. If I wasn't so busy at the deli, I'd probably go and train them a little, but business is booming, so I can barely chat to everybody and keep cooking stuff, let alone leave my deli for two whole hours ^^;

Haha, yes, Shinji can speak for himself also. In fact he seems up for it as well. Text me some days when both of you are free and we can go do some teaching. I'll shut down the shop for the afternoon or ask An to sub in for me.
